For about two decades, the Halo game franchise has been ruling the heart of sci-fi fans. For those who don’t know about the Halo game franchise, it is a series of American military science fiction games.
The first-ever Halo game was released on November 15, 2001, titled Halo: Combat Evolved. After that, 343 Industries released 4 major titles, and all of them were heartily welcomed by audiences.
The last major release of the game was Halo 5: Guardians that was launched on October 27, 2015. Well, finally the wait is over, 343 Industries along with Microsoft announced the newest game of the Halo franchise: Halo Infinite.
About Halo Infinite
Not launched yet but we are here to present you a few details that we have collected about Halo Infinite, concerning the release date, features, and more.
Developed by 343 Industries and published by Microsoft’s Xbox Game Studios, Halo Infinite is the sixth main entry and probably the last game of the decade in the main series of Halo games.
According to the developers, Halo Infinite is the biggest and most ambitious Halo game ever created. The first-person shooter game will continue the story of the Master Chief as the third chapter of the “Reclaimer Saga” following the Halo 5: Guardians.
As stated by Microsoft, the game will feature Master Chief in a more central role, in comparison to Halo 5. Microsoft also added that in Halo Infinite Master Chief returns with his greatest adventure to save humanity.
On the other hand, the Banished will be playing the antagonist part, who are a group of violent mercenaries split off of the former covenant alien alliance.
Features of Halo Infinite
Finally, the curtains of Halo Infinite have been raised a little bit. However, much of its contents and elements are still undisclosed. But for our precious readers, we have been able to find out some of the features of the games.
First, the game will have an open world-style setting that will enable players to use the full map for navigation. Players will also be able to pick and choose missions to play based on what is shown on the map screen.
Also, Master Chief will now be able to use equipment pickups such as grappling hooks or deployable shields that can be upgraded as well. The game will also feature the day/night cycle and wildlife to give it a more vibrant look.
As for multiplayer game play, fans can expect to see a split-screen cooperative play that was not included in the earlier version (Halo 5: Guardian).
With the help of split-screen cooperative play, two players can play on the local screen, while up to 4 players can play together online.
Release Date and Pricing
Microsoft released two trailers of this much-awaited game, one the announcement trailer in 2018, and the Discover Hope trailer in 2019.
Earlier in 2019, Microsoft announced that the Halo Infinite will be launched in Holiday 2020, along with the Xbox Series X. However, the launch got shelved due to the ongoing corona-virus pandemic.
Ultimately the game is slated to be released in 2021, but the exact date is still not clear. The game will drop on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and on PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam.
Also, the developers have announced that the game’s multiplayer portion would be released as a free-to-play game. But the cost of the campaign half is still unclear.
The game also will be available with an Xbox Game Pass subscription like other titles from Microsoft.
The Bottom Line
The details of Halo Infinite are surely limited right now, but our excitement for the game is unlimited. We’ve loved what we’ve seen before from the franchise, so we’re hoping to be wowed again.
